    Influence of the stitching density on the transverse permeability of Non-Crimped New Concept (NC2) multiaxial reinforcements : measurements and predictions

    International audienceNew manufacturing processes arise for polymer-based composites which involve resin infusion through dry pre-forms. Modelling approaches of these processes require to assess new physical characteristics of the materials. In this paper, the transverse permeability of new multiaxial stitched materials, referred to as NC2, is investigated. First, in the framework of Darcy's flows, this permeability is assessed for various biaxial NC2 using a specific device. Through this approach it is shown that the transverse permeability depends strongly on the stitching density. Then, the results from a simplified FE study carried out at the blanket scale are shown to correlate quite well the experimental measurements and evidences established in the first part

    From conceptual design to process design optimization: a review on flowsheet synthesis

    International audienceThis paper presents the authors’ perspectives on some of the open questions and opportunities in Process Systems Engineering (PSE) focusing on process synthesis. A general overview of process synthesis is given, and the difference between Conceptual Design (CD) and Process Design (PD) is presented using an original ternary diagram. Then, a bibliometric analysis is performed to place major research team activities in the latter. An analysis of ongoing work is conducted and some perspectives are provided based on the analysis. This analysis includes symbolic knowledge representation concepts and inference techniques, i.e., ontology, that is believed to become useful in the future. Future research challenges that process synthesis will have to face, such as biomass transformation, shale production, response to spaceflight demand, modular plant design, and intermittent production of energy, are also discussed

    O cultivo do morangueiro fora do solo possibilita a eliminação do uso de produtos para desinfecção, reduzindo o consumo de frutos contaminados e a agressĂŁo ao meio ambiente, alĂ©m de proporcionar melhor aproveitamento da ĂĄrea e maior facilidade de manejo da cultura. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar, em ambiente protegido e colunas verticais, dois sistemas de irrigação: gotejamento por estacas (externo) e autocompensante (interno); dois tipos de substratos: Horta 2 e Tabaco 1; com e sem drenagem. A cultivar utilizada foi a Oso Grande. O delineamento foi em blocos casualizados, com os tratamentos dispostos em parcela subsubdividida, com trĂȘs repetiçÔes. Com base nos rendimentos obtidos nos terços superior, mĂ©dio e inferior das colunas, o sistema de irrigação mais indicado Ă© o gotejamento por estacas (externo), com drenagem na extremidade inferior da coluna. Os substratos nĂŁo diferem quanto Ă  produção, mas Horta 2 incrementa o teor de antocianina nos frutos.<br>Since strawberry cultivation in soil less system does not needs disinfection products, it decreases fruits and environmental contamination. Besides it provides a better utilization of the area and makes easy the management of the culture. The objective of this work was to evaluate two irrigation systems: dripping for props (outside) and self compensate (inside); and two types of substrates: Horta 2 and Tabaco 1; with or without draining, on the cultivar Oso Grande of strawberry. The experiment was carried out under protected cultivation and in vertical columns conditions. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with three replications, and the treatments were arranged in a split-plot. The strawberry yield found in the upper, medium, and lower positions of the columns indicates that the dripping for props (outside) is the most efficient irrigation system, since drainage is used in the lower extremity of the column. Although there were no differences substrates, Horta 2 increased the anthocyanins content of the fruits
